gonna make you happy, happy

Oct 14 - 20

On Monday, I woke up at about 4 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I inadvertently woke Jeremy up at some point reading something funny and laughing so hard but trying to do so silently, which resulted in me shaking the whole bed. Jeremy wasn’t super thrilled about that. Oslo and I went to pick up a baby carrier after naps, and then Jeremy realized he could come home early and picked up Berlin, then the two of them went grocery shopping. When Jeremy got home, we made some pizzas and I went to pick up some baby stuff I’d found on ebay kleinanzeigen. It took me a couple of hours to collect everything, and the boys were out when I got home.

Some of the treasures I found - a bathtub, a baby seat, a play mobile with a snail

On Tuesday, Oslo and I did stuff around the house and then went to pick up Berlin. My plan was to go home and let both boys take naps, but everything took longer than I thought, so we just ran some errands, which took us until about 8PM that night to finish. We did stop at one point and play at the park for a little while, but we mostly were getting baby stuff, either for our own baby or gift-making for other people’s babies. One of our errands was to Primark and Berlin got new underwear, and he was so excited about it that he opened them up and was examining them on the train home. So funny.

Jeremy took this on his way home - the canal by work, and there's a hot air balloon way in the background

On Wednesday, it poured all day while Oslo and I went to pick up more baby stuff. We didn’t get home until almost 3, and we both took long naps. Jeremy and Berlin came home sometime while we were sleeping.  Don’t really remember past nap time.

Berlin eating Jeremy's leftover corn on the way home from kita -
he claimed this made him "full" later in the night when we had tortellini spinach soup
and he didn't want to try it.

The boys got a Halloween letter from Grandma and Grandpa (Jeremy's parents)
that included a lot of stickers, which promptly went into their sticker books

Thursday was mine and Oslo’s first day this week just staying at home. Which was relieving for me. We did laundry and I cut and made a few baby blankets, and we took naps. Also don’t really remember past nap time.

On Friday, we started the de-smoking process - our landlord approved us getting an ozone generator to get rid of the last residual smoke smell that we’ve started noticing now that we have our windows closed more often. We started with the boys’ room, which took a couple of hours to clean out before we could run the machine, and then we had to leave before we started the machine to go to a doctor’s appointment. We met Jeremy there, but we didn’t end up actually seeing the doctor again, just listening to the heartbeat and monitoring for contractions. So we went back to Kreuzberg with Jeremy and he picked up Berlin while we went to see if the Turkish Market had more strawberries (we’ve run out of our jam!) We met at a Euroshop, where Jeremy and Berlin owed each other a bet. When we got home, we started up the machine and the boys and I went to the park while Jeremy worked on the balcony. When it was aired out, we came back and had pizza and watched the second Lego movie. After the boys went to bed, we put the machine in our room and stayed up watching, “The Man in the High Castle” on Amazon. It’s so good.

On the way back to Kruezberg, Oslo wanted to "hang upside down like a bat!"

Jeremy tried to teach him new animals. Here's "sloth"

Oslo made it through the movie, and that was it.

On Saturday, we spent the whole day working on getting the living room ready to de-smoke. It took a long time to clean through stuff, organize it, rearrange furniture, etc. but we got a lot done. In the evening, Jeremy played Starcraft with Dallin and Zachary, and then the boys went to bed and I just collapsed. I was so exhausted. I think Jeremy came in and turned the light off not too long after, but I was just so tired.

Saturday we woke up slowly before we started all the projects.
None of us had even eaten breakfast when the boys started the
human bowling ball game.
Afterwards we realized we were out of milk and sugar, so the boys
went to the grocery store shortly after this game BEFORE breakfast.
This is generally why we eat breakfast at lunchtime, despite being awake
for HOURS before that.

Sunday was the Frankfurt Temple (re)dedication, so we got up early and took the boys to Nascha’s house - her husband isn’t a member of the church, so he babysat our boys with his little boy, and we went to the church to watch the broadcast. We came home, Jeremy and Berlin ran in to open all the windows, and we had lunch and ALL took naps. When we were all up, we made dinner/skyped Grandma, and then we had dinner and “church” - we had a lesson about temples and talked about what happens when a temple is dedicated. Then we watched "Only A Stonecutter" which I had never seen. It's a good one. The boys complained about watching a movie (what?!?!) but then they enjoyed it once we got it started, and then they went to bed.
